Terms of Use
The monthly pass issued by the Automobile Company of Canico, Ltd. is an electronic card, contactless type, rechargeable, valid for zones previously chosen by the passenger. It has three modes: Social Pass, Old-age Social Pass and Student Social Pass. The tariff of these passes is approved by the competent authorities and it is available for consultation at the company's ticket office.
Who use them?
Passes are available to clients who need a versatile transport title with unlimited number of trips.
Documents required for purchase.
- To acquire the Social Pass, passengers must fill in the request form, according to the Decree No. 203-B/96 of December 18th, add an ID photo and show the Social Security Card.
- To acquire the Old-age Social Pass, passengers must fill in the request form, add an ID photo and prove cumulatively that they are at the age of 65 or older and reaching the retirement age or that they have a permanent infirmity or disability.
- To acquire the Student Social Pass, students must fill in the request form, add an ID photo, and hand in a document certified by the school stating that they attend that particular educational establishment, with no social benefits, as well as a certificate with the grades obtained in the previous school year.
The cost of issuing any type of Social Pass is 4 €.
Where to Buy the Titles of Transport?
To purchase or recharge the Social Pass, or change the zones for which it is valid, the client, unless he is told differently, should contact the ticket office of the company located at Rua dos Tanoeiros, No 12 – 1st floor, Funchal.
When recharging the Social Pass, the client will receive a receipt that proves the payment and validation of the month that was recharged. For that reason the client should keep the ticket as a proof of the recharge in case of breaking or losing it, or in a situation where an operating problem has occurred.
NOTE: The receipt does not replace the Social Pass which must be always shown to the driver at the beginning of each trip, otherwise, passengers are required to pay a new ticket aboard.
Tickets
Our ticketing system aboard consists of the following: a title of transport (ticket) is printed by the driver containing the information on the location of origin, destination and price. The passenger should keep the ticket until the end of the trip as he may be requested by the supervisor to show it. The tariff of the ticket is approved by the competent authorities.
Rules and terms of transport
Passengers are responsible for the proper use of their personal electronic card/pass as well as for its replacement in case of loss, deterioration or malfunction caused by its bad preservation.
Passengers must show the monthly pass whenever requested by the supervisor agent.
Pass Validation
Passengers must have a valid title of transport for the month in progress. At the beginning of each trip they must validate the pass when entering the bus showing it to the driver first and then inserting it on the machine installed at the entrance of the vehicle. Validation will be confirmed by a green light and the issuance of a transport title similar to the aboard ticket. This title of transport should be kept until the end of the trip in case of the supervisor requires it.
If a red light is displayed on the machine it means that the title of transport has not been validated. In that case, passengers are required to show the receipt to prove that the recharge of the card has been done. The malfunctioning of the pass must be reported to the bus company's office as soon as possible. In case of not having the receipt, passengers are required to pay a ticket aboard for the route they wish.
Damages
In case of a malfunction or failure regarding the Social Pass, when unrelated to passengers, they are required to go to our office in order to proceed to its replacement.
